Drama across the curriculum

"In their quest to introduce more kinaesthetic techniques into their classrooms, many teachers toy with the idea of using "some kind of drama".  Unfortunately, many of them rarely go any further than that because they lack awareness of the various dramatic techniques available.  Listed below is a brief synopsis of a number of such techniques that can be used across the curriculum.  This guide is not intended to be exhaustive - and it certainly will not turn you magically into a "drama teacher".  However, it may give you sufficient confidence to introduce into your teaching a number of new approaches.  If these add interest to lessons, foster pupil engagement and encourage children to think, then they will have served their purpose."

Study Skills

4 April 2017

STUDY SKILLS

Study skills are approaches applied to learning, considered escential for acquiring good grades and useful for learning throughout one's life.

DON'T:

*Don't leave revision to the last minute
*Don't avoid revising subjects you don't like or find difficult
*Don't forget that there is life beyond revision and exams

*Study after 11.0 pm

PREPARE FOR THE BIG DAY!

*Have a good breakfast
*Give yourself plenty of time to get the exam room
*Make sure you know where the exam is being held
*Take everything you need (pens, pencils, water, anything else?)

PACE YOURSELF

*Read the instructions
*Read all the questions and give yourself time to answer those you are required to answer
*Plan how much time you will need for each question
*If you are stuck, go to the next question. You can come back to the unfinished one later. If you are really stuck, try to have an intelligent guess

ABOVE ALL

*Perform as well as you can -"YOU are YOU" so you can only do the best you can on the day
*Don't go through the answers with your friends afterwars, if it is only going to worry you
*Try to put the last exam out of your mind and look ahead to the next one - you can't go go backto change things

SOME STUDY SKILLS

*Pay attention in class
*Take good notes
*Keep an organised notebook

*Ask question in class
*Plan definite study time and place for each day
*Don't crame for hours the night before a test or exam
*Don't make study sessions too long
*Practice skills learned by doing problems, exercises and essays

The teacher started showing a web page "Agenda web" as a sign of all the technological resources we have available as a learning or improvement oportunity of the foreign languages, in this case, english, in a quickly, easily, independent  way, in the majority of the cases, totally free.

"Agenda web" its a very didactic page, ideal for kinesthetic and auditory learners, in this page we will find a listening section, it has a lot of audios which will facilitates the listening and speaking process.

Why schools should implement technology in the classroom?

1) If used correctly, will help prepare students for their future careers, which will inevitably include the use of wireless technology

2) Integrating technology into the classroom is definitely a great way to reach diversity in learning styles.

3) It gives students tha chance to interact with their classmates more by encouraging colaboration.

4) Technology helps the teachers prepare students for the real world environment. As our nation becomes increasingly more technology-dependent, it becomes even more necessary that to be succesfull citizens, students must learn to be teach-savvy.

5) Integrating technology in education everyday helps students stay engaged. Today´s students love technology so they are sure to be interested in learning if they can use the tools they love.

6) With technology, the classroom is a happier place. Students are excited about being able to use technology and therefore are more apt to learn.

7) When mobile technology is available in classroom, students are ble to access the most up-to-date information quicker and easier than ever before.

8) The traditional passive learning mold is broken. With technology in the classroom the teacher becomes the encourager, adviser and coach.

9) Students become more responsible. Technology helps students take more control over their own learning. They learn how to make their own decisions and actually think for themselves.

10) Students can have access to digital textbooks that are constantly updated and often more vivid, helpful, creative, and a lot cheaper than those old heavy books.
